5. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering and lead the development of accurate and reliable computational models for the prediction of boiling heat transfer and the critical heat flux (CHF) in water-cooled nuclear reactors. The 30-month post is funded by an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) award, and it is supported by Rolls-Royce, Westinghouse and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA). In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, you will join the Thermofluids Group and interact with an exceptional team of researchers with a long track record of development of innovative computational methods for fluid dynamics, multiphase flows and nuclear thermal hydraulics.
Application Deadline: 21st July 2024
6. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Psychology for an enthusiastic and experienced Research Associate. Supported by researchers from the Research on Research Institute, the Volkswagen Foundation is running an experiment in Distributed Peer Review of applications for research funding (DPR). 8. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
As a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, you’ll join a dynamic team of research clinicians and scientists, exploring cutting-edge biological and clinical research techniques as part of multiple patient-focused projects. You will lead on the development of technologies and approaches to obtain data (such as heart rate and mobility) and active data (such as questionnaires) from devices such as smartphones, wearables and novel sensors. You will work alongside a team to pilot these technologies in clinical studies in a range of medical conditions. You will lead on the development of analytic approaches to improve diagnosis, treatment personalisation, and risk prediction. You will also unlock a world of opportunities as a member of the NIHR Sheffield BRC Training Academy (BTA) and the broader NIHR Academy, benefitting from career-based mentoring, SPARC placements, targeted seminars, and bespoke courses.
