1. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking one or two postdoctoral researchers with strong motivation to map new aspects of the interplay between chronic pain and the development of cardiovascular diseases. The position involves conducting research in Johan Ärnlöv’s research group at the division of Family Medicine and Primary Care, as well as collaborating with Swedish and international pain researchers. The project has two parts: one focused on traditional cardiovascular epidemiology, examining the relationship between different types of pain exposure and the development of cardiovascular diseases in large Swedish and international study materials, and another with a more molecular biological focus, using large-scale measurements of metabolites, proteins, genes, and microbiota to find new mechanisms behind the links between pain and cardiovascular disease.

4. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Björkegren lab aims to reveal fundamental molecular mechanisms that are essential for chromosome organization, dynamics, and function. The group focuses their research on the family of SMC protein complexes that controls most chromosomal processes, including chromosome 3D organization, repair and segregation. Combining investigations of in vivo models with biochemical analysis, the Björkegren team unravels the function of the Smc5/6 complex, required for genome stability, viral restriction, and organism development. Currently, the group investigates a recently discovered connection between SMC complexes, chromosome 3D organization, and transcription-induced changes in the DNA helix, so called DNA supercoiling.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

You will work in a project funded by the Swedish Research Council focusing on psychological sex differences with the overarching aim to describe and explain these differences but also to understand the potential impact they may have on society and everyday life. We address questions relating to the importance of sex chromosomes and fetal androgen exposure in sex differences. Is it possible to identify patterns of cognitive skills and behaviors that constitute meaningful sex-typical profiles? Can such sex-typical profiles provide an understanding of why there are such large gender differences in career choices? We collect new data but also use Swedish register data. The work includes, in addition to usual research work, acquiring Swedish register data, and statistically analyzing complex relationships. The position may also include supervision of bachelor’s and master’s students.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Schultzberg lab addresses fundamental questions in neuroinflammation with the aim to find new treatment targets in Alzheimer’s disease. Our studies build upon in vivo and in vitro models as well as on analysis of human clinical samples, in order to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms for resolving neuroinflammation and regaining homeostasis in the brain. Resolution of inflammation in the brain is a relatively new research field and our studies aim to provide knowledge on the signals for resolving inflammation in the brain and whether stimulation or modulation of these is beneficial for neuronal functioning and eventually as a potential target for the treatment of patients. The Schultzberg Lab is currently collaborating closely with the Li group, which is focussed on addressing the developmental and regenerative potential of diverse neural stem and progenitor cells during neurodevelopment, degeneration and regeneration, by using cutting-edge single-cell and spatial omics.
