2. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Most rivers are heavily influenced by humans. In many places, rivers are therefore being restored to promote water quality and biological diversity. Construction of wetlands and dam removal are two common measures, and both lead to an increased abundance of macrophytes, i.e. plants in or near water. Macrophytes can emit significant amounts of greenhouse gases, but at the same time also bind carbon and thus constitute a carbon sink. The CLIMIPHY project aims to create new knowledge about the climate footprint of macrophytes that gives river restoration professionals the opportunity to restore watercourses in a way that favors biodiversity and water quality, with as little climate footprint as possible.

3. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Your main tasks will be to finalize the NESSA 14-MeV neutron facility and contribute to developing the experimental program at NESSA. Neutrons are a key player in nuclear applications. The availability of neutron sources is especially important for developing and testing detectors for nuclear physics experiments and applications, development and testing of nuclear instruments for verification of nuclear safeguards and disarmament, radiation-shielding studies, development and verification of simulation tools for neutron transports, and irradiation of material and electronics. After the closing of several research reactors and accelerator-based neutron sources (e.g. The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala), there is a current lack of neutron facilities in the Nordic countries.

5. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with a strong background in software development, or software developer with a strong interest in science. You will join a new project, within which applied statistics and information theory is used to quantify the information content of neutron reflectivity datasets. Using this, we are able to optimize the design of experiments and to make previously impossible experiments possible, as well as to run existing experiments faster and better.

7. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

On Gotland, there will be two co-creation living labs. The living lab most relevant for this position is the Baltic Sea living lab. The research will specifically focus on a social-ecological approach to drivers of change in marine life and citizen science related to observations of marine life. The Baltic Sea living lab will focus on the essential ocean variables (EOVs): seagrass, macroalgae, fish and invertebrates. Observations of these EOVs will be addressed across all parts of the ocean observing value chain, from planning to policy and beyond. The research will require engaging stakeholders on Gotland and beyond.

12. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Zebrafish (Danio rerio) is rapidly becoming one of the most popular model organisms in biomedical research. In Sweden, zebrafish is next to mice the most frequently used species in animal experiments. From first being established as a model organism for studies on embryonic development, the use of zebrafish in other fields of biomedical research is now rapidly increasing. As a result, the use of adult fish is increasing, which puts higher demands on fish rearing and welfare.
