If you’re a Masters degree holder and seeking Fully Funded PhD Programs, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland has several online applications open for PhD programs. Explore the PhD opportunities across diverse research areas and submit your application soon.
1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Multi materials additive manufacturing for ship building application
Summary of PhD Program:
Zero-emission shipping transition is greatly restricted by the design and manufacture of light weight, cost effective, and high performing reliable materials structures in marine environment. The conventional manufacturing of multi-materials structure in ship building industries is performed by non-sustainable manufacturing processes with multiple manufacturing steps. This project will address sustainable manufacturing for zero emission shipping through contribution of new knowledge and understanding on scientific challenges related to multi materials additive manufacturing.
Application Deadline: 31 August 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Dynamic digital scheduling for optimal outfitting of naval ships
Summary of PhD Program:
Are you ready to revolutionise naval shipbuilding with cutting-edge research? This PhD will focus on creating an innovative solution to transform outfitting task management in naval vessels. The impact of your work will be profound, enabling the safe and swift delivery of ships into service, outpacing current outfitting management methods. If you’re passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, this PhD opportunity is for you.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Combining asbestos treatment with carbon capture using mechanochemistry
Summary of PhD Program:
This project aims to capture CO2 in asbestos-containing construction materials, building on our recent research on mechanochemical carbon capture in crystalline silicates (Stillings et al. Nature Sustainability 2023). We aim to turn a well-known hazard into a resource to combat climate change. The PhD will investigate the potential for mechanochemical reactions, which occur due to the cracking of silicon-oxygen bonds in silicate materials, to capture greenhouse gases whilst simultaneously neutralising asbestos.
Application Deadline: 31 August 2024
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Neuromorphic photonic-electronic integrated circuits for fast and efficient SPIKE-based information PROcessing (SPIKEPRO)
Summary of PhD Program:
This PhD project will investigate neuromorphic (brain-like) photonic-electronic systems for new high-speed and efficient neuromorphic computing and AI technologies. The programme will investigate artificial photonic and electronic spiking neurons, their connectivity into compact chip-scale spiking neural networks. These will be used in spike-based photonic-electronic processing functionalities in real-world applications (e.g. high-speed radar signal processing, high-speed data classification).
Application Deadline: 8 September 2024
