1. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral position (m/f/d) is available in the Förderer laboratory in the research project ‘Molecular basis of symbiotic plant-microbe interaction’, at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany. The project is part of our DETECTOME project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and applies state-of-the-art cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) of proteins involved in mycorrhiza and root nodule symbiosis. The protein structure knowledge will be used for crop improvement to generate new cultivars that are equipped for the future challenges in agriculture (climate change).

3. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Requirements for the position include a strong record of self-motivated research (supported by peer-reviewed publications) and a PhD in theoretical biology, applied mathematics, theoretical physics, or a related area. In addition, we ask for excellent analytical and computational skills and a strong interest in working at the interface between evolutionary biology/yeast genetics and mathematical biology.

Application Deadline: August 31st, 2024

4. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are looking for a team member who can integrate new and high spatial resolution observational datasets into the existing FLUXCOM workflow. This will involve building tailored data extraction and pre-processing pipelines to generate analysis ready data (ARD). Additionally, the person will implement a novel machine learning model structure that is able to account for the mismatch in observational supports (i.e. spatial footprints) between eddy covariance measurements and satellite observations. In practice, this will require characterising the dynamic nature of both types of footprints and evaluate the representativity of the matching area in both space and time.

Application Deadline: 30th August 2024

5. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The UFOS group (www.ufos-project.eu/) at MPIA is pursuing a wide range of astrophysical research, encompassing various theoretical models and observations of protoplanetary disks. Several exciting research opportunities are available at MPIA. The successful candidates will have access to the computational facilities of the MPG including high-performance CPU and GPU clusters (MPCDF).

Application Deadline: August 31, 2024

6. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The tasks, depending on your experience, include experimental work on the formation of atomic layers of spintronic materials using novel plasma deposition technologies, and the fabrication of nanoscale spintronic devices using advanced plasma etching technologies. Further studies of their properties for applications in energy-efficient memory and computing, as well as theoretical studies of the dynamics of non-collinear, chiral magnetic textures (e.g. chiral domain walls, skyrmions) are anticipated.

7. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The SOLBAT initiative is funded by the Max Planck Foundation and poised to deliver pioneering work in the field of solar batteries and optoionics during the next five years. Research will focus on the emerging intersection of photo(electro)chemistry and solid state ionics and aim at the development of novel light storing devices and optoionic technologies, including various light-enhanced battery concepts, time-delayed (“dark”) photo(electro)catalysis, and light-assisted memory devices. The projects will be carried out in close collaboration with the Theory Department (head: Karsten Reuter) at the Fritz Haber Institute (FHI) and have a strong focus on AI-based evaluation methods and robotic material design for the next generation of optoionic materials.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

8. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

MPE invites applications for a postdoctoral position (m/f/d) to work in the European Research Council (ERC) funded project “DarkQuest: Shedding Light on the Nature of Dark Matter and Dark Energy with Multi-Wavelength All-Sky Surveys” led by Dr. Esra Bulbul. The eROSITA X-ray telescope, developed by MPE, has performed the largest galaxy cluster survey to date and will deliver a catalog of >60,000 clusters of galaxies and galaxy groups based on the first two years of its all-sky survey. The overarching goal of the eROSITA cluster survey and the ERC project is to constrain the cosmological parameters using observations of clusters of galaxies, together with complementary multi-wavelength data.
