1. Fully Funded PhD Position in pharmaco-epidemiology
Summary of PhD Program:
You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in the field of pharmaco-epidemiology and the early life microbiome. The overall aim of the project is to assess how antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) affect the microbiome acquisition during early life (microbiome), how this affects the risk of common infections and immune-related outcomes such as asthma and allergies (translational) – and how large this impact could be on population level (drug utilization).
Application Deadline: September 16, 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in applied sciences and heritage science
Summary of PhD Program:
The research group Antwerp Cultural Heritage Sciences (ARCHES) of the University of Antwerp (Faculty Design Sciences, Conservation-Restoration), in collaboration with the AXIS research group (University of Antwerp, Department of Physics), is looking for a full-time (100%) doctoral candidate in the interdisciplinary field of Applied Sciences and Heritage science, focussing on the material technical study and chemical characterization of impermeable coatings on historical horse-drawn vehicles.

4. Fully Funded PhD Position in product development
Summary of PhD Program:
You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in the field of Product Development. You will employ Research through Design to investigate how embodied interaction propels inclusive design. The practical context is the conception of a new product dedicated to one specific function, for example home banking, Ambient Assistive Living (AAL) applications, etc. The product uses an interaction style that fits people who are unable or unwilling to use today’s smartphone and tablet solutions.
Application Deadline: 1 September 2024
5. Fully Funded PhD Position in dynamic economic impact assessment of seaweed biorefineries to support the protein shift
Summary of PhD Program:
You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis on the dynamic economic impact assessment of seaweed biorefineries. This PhD research is part of a larger FWO-SBO research project SUPROSEA (Sustainable Proteins from Seaweed) in which a solution is sought for the imminent shortage of protein by cultivating seaweed in Flanders. Seaweed is a promising alternative protein source and can contribute to global food sustainability.
