1. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This is an exciting MRC-JPIAMR funded project, titled FightAMR: Novel global One Health surveillance approach to fight AMR using Artificial Intelligence and big data mining. The research fellow will take a leading role in an EU-Africa research project, collaborating with Research Organisations, Academia, and Industry in South Africa, Switzerland, France, Italy and the UK. The aim of this research is to understand the emergence, spread and transmission of drug-resistant pathogens under the One Health concept, and to use this knowledge to develop an innovative AI-powered surveillance solution. Covering all the interconnected systems humans, animals, environment and food across EU and Africa. To this aim, we will use artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, next generation sequencing and microbiology.
Application Deadline: 13 August 2024
2. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The role will be based in the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC) at the University of Nottingham. The Research Fellow must have good knowledge and practical skills of the imaging of biological/organic materials at the micro/nano-scale and an understanding of current limitations of these techniques. In particular, the Research Fellow should possess skills in preparing and preserving biological/organic samples for imaging and analysis. They will use these capabilities to underpin method development and the creation of innovative solutions to the characterisation challenges presented by University of Nottingham researchers and external users, helping establish the nmRC as a leader this field.

3. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A key purpose of the role will be to work with the principal investigator Prof. Franziska Schrodt on developing a roadmap of biodiversity data quality and quantity for the purpose of nature and biodiversity finance. This will include reviewing existing standards and international data infrastructure, as well as high-level principles of measurements and metrics, and mapping these against the data needs and gaps identified across the IFB programme, covering terrestrial, freshwater and marine systems as well as UK and international projects. As part of this role, the candidate will develop an excellent understanding of the current thinking on biodiversity finance and nature finance more broadly, including from the rapidly evolving grey literature.
Application Deadline: 16 August 2024
4. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This post will focus on the study of advanced laser manufacturing technologies and surface integrity inspection methods for difficult-to-machine materials (e.g. magnetic materials and superalloys). It is supposed to study the material machining performance through different techniques in detail. Another objective is to study the materials properties (including microstructures, micro/macro mechanical performance etc.) influenced by the advanced laser manufacturing process.
Application Deadline: 14 August 2024
5. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The MAS and faculty have an excellent international reputation for high quality theoretical and experimental research funded by EU, EPSRC, BEIS, Innovate-UK and directly with industry. The faculty is also dedicated to equality, diversity, and inclusion; it was awarded engineering department in the UK to be awarded an Athena Swan Gold award for advancing gender equality in higher education. Applications from all backgrounds are encouraged. The work will focus on model development, experimentation, and data analysis of bearing dynamics with a particular focus on aerospace applications. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that programmes of work are carried out in a robust, well-managed, and well-documented manner.
Application Deadline: 19 August 2024
6. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Applications are invited for the above post based in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at University Park, Nottingham. This post will complement and strengthen research related activities within The Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Manufacturing and On-Wing Technology at the University of Nottingham. The research of the UTC has been highly ranked in the field of manufacturing related areas and is carrying out the leading technologies in these fields.
Application Deadline: 27 August 2024
7. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and talented research leader in mechanical aspects of rotating electrical machines to join the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group (PEMC) at the University of Nottingham and become a core member of a team working on high power and high performance electrical machines. The PEMC has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 200 members, with over 24 academics (including 9 full professors) and approximately 130 PhD students, post-doctoral research fellows and applications engineers. The group has world-class facilities for experimental work including approximately 3500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 5MW.

8. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work on a project to develop self-assembled biomaterial-based in vitro models of plant roots to recreate and study the natural plant microbiome. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary project funded by Human Frontiers Science Program Grant. The overall aim of the post will be to develop an in vitro model of plant roots using a self-assembled biomaterial based on the co-assembly of peptides with biomolecules such as proteins. The material will enable the incorporation of relevant cells and biological signals and be compatible with biofabrication techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing the self-assembly process, characterization of the materials, fabrication of the scaffolds, and their biological validation.
