The Tumor Immune Micro-environment (TIME) lab in the Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery is seeking a full-time post-doctoral scholar to study the immunological features of the cancer stroma in liver metastases of experimental colorectal cancer. The central hypotheses are that the growing metastasis recruits vascular endothelial cells, fibroblasts and immune cells from the host liver, that some of these cells undergo trans-differentiation in the metastatic context, and that immunosuppressive mechanisms native to the liver are thereby active in the metastasis. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2024.

3. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The University of Washington’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) postdoctoral researcher to work with an interdisciplinary research team to conduct an environmental assessment of wood products and forest management systems using a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) based modeling approach. The position will be an initial 24 month appointment with the possibility of extension.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be associated with the Center for International Trade in Forest Products (CINTRAFOR) and contribute to a broad base of research projects, including Life Cycle Assessment of wood products (including mass timber building materials), sustainable building materials and buildings, waste recovery, bioenergy, feedstock logistics, and sustainable forest management. The emphasis of the overall project will be on mass timber construction and related climate-smart forestry practices.

7. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The project pursues investigations in the immune-modulating roles of circulating MitoEV in sterile inflammation in chronic conditions such as HF and T2D. Specifically, studies are carried out to study the regulation and mechanism of MitoEV release from peripheral immune cells in the setting of chronic inflammation, and the tissue-specific targets of proinflammatory MitoEV. Approaches include live-cell confocal and electron microscopy, flow analysis, mRNA/protein analyses, and genetic modifications by CRISPR-knock using cell-based and animal models. Experience in confocal microscopy and mouse models is highly desirable.
