A three-year PhD research fellowship is available in the group of Dr. Biswajyoti Sahu at the Centre for Molecular Medicine, Norway. Our group investigates the interplay between transcription factors and oncogenes using a rationale multi-cancer approach and modern genome-wide methods for regulatory genomic features and chromatin architecture. We utilize a wide range of cutting-edge functional genomics approaches, from ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN and HiChIP to single-nuclei multiome RNA-seq and ATAC-seq assays, epigenetics analysis using single-molecule nanopore sequencing, as well as CRISPR-based approaches for genome editing. Summary of Doctoral Project:
Air quality (AQ) monitoring and management (AQMS) methods have been improved significantly both in Norwegian and European cities, but further progress is needed due to some quality-driven requirements in environmental data processing, such as low-latency prediction of AQ. This can only be achieved by intelligent data processing at multiple levels of granularity. The AirQMan project promises autonomous computational methods and techniques to meet such requirements. It extends data processing and computational intelligence from the Cloud to multiple levels of network nodes towards the Edge of the network. In particular, the project has the following main objectives: 1) developing a novel data processing design model that will autonomously determine the optimal data fusion processing flow, the right data sources, and the right trained deep learning (DL) model for maximizing the accuracy of AQ prediction; 2) predicting and maintaining the optimal distributed deployment over Edge-Cloud platforms for an efficient computation of the DL model while satisfying accuracy and latency requirements.

9. PhD Research Fellow in evolutionary venomics
Summary of Doctoral Project:
The Undheim group is interested in questions in evolutionary biology that relate to how evolutionary innovations and novelties emerge and how they interact across levels of biological complexity. Animal venoms are excellent models for this purpose: They are cocktails of bioactive polypeptides (“toxins”) that often potently and selectively target important physiological processes in their vic-tims, and that have evolved through the modification of existing “housekeep-ing” proteins and peptides. A major focus of the group is to gain an understanding of the molecular under-pinnings of evolvability using the venoms from lacewings (order Neuroptera) as models, which was recently funded by the European Research Council. The candidate will work with the macro-evolutionary aspect of this project, studying the mechanisms by which neuropteran venom proteins arose and have diversified using a broad range of methods, including proteomics, transcriptom-ics, genomics, functional assays, molecular evolutionary analyses, and structur-al biology. The project will also involve collaborations with other research groups both nationally and internationally (e.g., The University of Queensland, Australia).

18. CompSci – Call 2b – Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD Fellowships in Natural Sciences – 2 positions
