Are you holding PhD degree and looking for Postdoctoral Fellowships? Umeå University, Sweden inviting application for multiple Postdoctoral Fellowships.
Umeå University is a public research university located in Umeå, in the mid-northern region of Sweden. The university was founded in 1965 and is the fifth oldest within Sweden’s present borders. As of 2015, Umeå University has over 36,000 registered students, including those at the postgraduate and doctoral level.
1. Post doctoral scholarship (two years) in modelling plasma interaction with planetary bodies
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The aim of our project is to advance our current understanding on the plasma interaction with planetary bodies of different sizes and characteristics (magnetized and unmagnetized, with and without a substantial atmosphere and ionosphere). Our focus will be on the kinetic processes that govern the interaction with these bodies and our primary focus will be on the atmospheric evolution using kinetic plasma simulations. The project is for two years and the stipend is financed by the Kempe Foundation for 312,000 SEK per year (the stipend is tax-free).
Last Application Date: 1 December 2022
2. Post doctoral fellowship in regenerative medicine
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A postdoctoral fellowship is now available at the Laboratory of Neural Repair and Cellular Therapy which consists of basic scientists and clinical researchers who have their principal research interests in regenerative medicine, with particular focus on spinal cord and peripheral nerve injury. Projects involve work in different aspects of tissue engineering using both in vitro and in vivo model systems. The applicant will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects and will be encouraged to actively develop new lines of research in the field.

3. Postdoctoral fellowship (2 years) in microbial ecology and environmental biotechnology, focused on beneficial microbes in pollinating insects
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Next to all complex organisms rely on some kind of microbial based symbiosis – this applies also for plants and their pollinating insects. The purpose of this project is to explore the role of beneficial microbes in pollination biology in northern Sweden. This is an interdisciplinary project as it is based on a mutual collaboration between microbiologists, entomologists, plant ecologists and biotechnologists . The postdoc will be given opportunity to participate in different stages in this project – from sampling, microbiological analyses to first steps towards biotechnological applications. The fellowship is funded by a tax-free 2-year scholarship amounting to 288 000 SEK per year.

4. Five Postdoctoral Fellowships (2 years) in Distributed Systems
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
With funding from the Kempe Foundation, the ADS Lab aims to establish a de-facto Center of Excellence in Autonomous Distributed Systems, with a particular focus on management in next-generation Edge and Cloud systems. We are offering scholarships for five postdoctoral fellows to comduct in-depth studies alongside our existing faculty within the areas but not limited to: Energy-Efficient Cloud Technology (energy-aware scheduling in cloud-edge environments, intelligent SDNs for energy efficiency, etc.)
Last Application Date: 28 October 2022
5. Postdoctoral fellowship (2 years) in medical bioinformatics in cancer research
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Our research is focused on gaining deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the metastatic dissemination and growth of cancer cells in the host tissues. We also aim at designing precision medicine by using artificial intelligence in oncology in preclinical and clinical practice, the project is also part of the large EU consortium in AI-combinational therapy. We also want to test the effects of our developed kinase inhibitors and immuno-modulators on tumor growth and invasion in cell line-based models and in animal models.

6. Postdoctoral fellowship (2 years) within Carbon Molecular Sieve membranes
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Our research group is focused on the design and synthesis of artificial membranes for gas separation, energy sector, and resource recovery. Currently, we focus on developing Carbon Molecular Sieve Membranes. The project is interdisciplinary, and you will have the opportunity to plan and develop routes to fabricate membranes for gas separation. The research involves the design, and synthesis polymer, fabricating membranes, characterizing the membrane, and applying the prepared membrane for separating gas molecules.
Last Application Date: 15th October 2022
7. Postdoctoral fellowship (2 years) in Optical Frequency Comb Spectroscopy
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are now offering a postdoctoral scholarship within the project aimed at high-resolution broadband spectroscopy of molecules of importance in astrophysics. Satellite- and ground-based observations of hot-Jupiter exoplanets revealed the presence of molecular species in their atmospheres. The observed spectra carry information about the composition, conditions and photo-chemistry in the exoplanetary atmospheres. To extract this information, accurate theoretical models of high-temperature spectra are needed. These, in turn, must be verified by data obtained from high-precision laboratory measurements. Such data are missing for many molecular species, because high-temperature spectra are difficult to obtain and very congested, and therefore hard to analyse.

8. Postdoctoral fellowship (2 years) in Planetary Geochemistry and Spectroscopy
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The postdoctoral fellow will get the opportunity to perform several laboratory experiments, mainly using vibrational spectroscopy. The postdoctoral fellow will participate in designing, data acquisition and analysis processes. We offer a unique opportunity to learn high-end techniques, especially for cryogenic studies, and to build a scientific network in astrobiology and planetary science fields. The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the newly-established Yeşilbaş Lab at Umeå University. You will integrate into the Molecular Geochemistry and Environmental Chemistry research environments of the Department of Chemistry and get full access to our newly developing laboratory and various analytical platforms of the Chemical and Biological Center.
