The initial focus of the postdoctoral scientist will be an exciting NIH-funded project examining how astrocyte and microglia crosstalk regulate and/or propagate the neuroinflammatory response to cerebrovascular dysfunction (VCID), Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI). We have long-term funding from NIA, NINDS, and CureAlzheimers foundation to robustly support research endeavors in these topics. Anticipated approaches to delineate these comorbid pathophysiological responses will harness multiple contemporary technologies including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, flow cytometry/FACS, metabolomics, and multiphoton vascular imaging in intact animals, to name a few.
