Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Two (2) postdoctoral positions are available within the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, at the University of Washington to study the role of fortilin in human diseases. Although we mainly focus on atherosclerosis and heart failure, our research efforts have recently been expanded to the field of oncology, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s Disease. The successful candidates will perform molecular biological, cellular, and whole-animal experiments with utmost scientific rigor, to elucidate the role of fortilin in various human diseases. Although general competency in key cellular and molecular biology procedures, immunohistochemical staining, and mouse handling is preferable, in-depth expertise in either (a) handling and experimentation of genetically manipulated mice or (b) molecular biological procedures is required.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The University of Washington EPE group consists of four professors, five post-docs, and four graduate students working on the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Our physics interests are focused on electroweak symmetry breaking and the search for exotic decays of the Higgs, especially with searches for Long Lived Particles in the ATLAS detector and the design and construction of the MATHUSLA detector. Our analyses already include aspects of Machine Learning and we are looking to further our investment in ML. Our group is also a founding member of the IRIS-HEP project (Institute for Research and Innovation in Software for the HL-LHC, http://iris-hep.org). Our group’s IRIS-HEP work is in developing analysis systems: enabling the expansion of HEP into the python-based analysis ecosystem, low latency analysis of large datasets, and as a longer-term goal differentiable analysis.
