Are you holding PhD degree and looking for Postdoctoral Fellowships? University of Antwerp, Belgium inviting application for multiple Postdoctoral Fellowships.

University of Antwerp, Belgium is one of the largest university in the world with thousands of employees, students, and research scientists are involved in the innovation of science and technology daily.

1. Postdoctoral Research Associate in Active-passive sampling of pollutants

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science is looking for a full-time (100%) postdoctoral researcher in the field of active-passive sampling of pollutants. The ECOSPHERE group at the University of Antwerp has developed a novel active-passive sampler (APS) for chemical speciation analysis of a suite of inorganic and organic compounds in natural waters and wastewaters. The APS uses a pump to generate laminar flow over a set of sorbents which are selective for different classes of contaminants. The measurements are thus independent from hydrodynamic conditions in the bulk sample medium. The APS has been developed to the level of a field prototype and further modifications are envisaged to dedicate the technology to various applications. Interested candidates are referred to our recent publications for further details of the APS approach (Amato et al. 2018, Chemosphere 209: 363-372; Amato et al. 2019, Chemosphere 236: 124400; Amato et al. 2021, Chemosphere 279: 130598).

2. Postdoctoral Research Associate in Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The University of Antwerp has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher situated within a VLAIO-Moonshot project entitled “Clusters for CO2 electrolyzers to ethylene – CLUE”. This research project aims in the development of an efficient electrolyzer for durable electrochemical conversion of CO2 to ethylene using realistic and industrially-relevant CO2 streams and highly stable and efficient electrodes based on mono- and bimetallic deposited clusters. Obtaining insights on the structural, morphological and compositional properties of the cluster arrays as prepared and under electrocatalytic reaction conditions is of great importance to the project, something which will be achieved by using novel ex- and in-situ TEM methods.

3. Postdoctoral Research Associate in Inverse problems and computational imaging

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Vision Lab at the University of Antwerp (http://visielab.uantwerpen.be/ ) has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher to strengthen our tomography research team with, for this position, a particular emphasis on computational imaging and deep learning. Tomography is an image reconstruction technique that leans strongly on large-scale numerical mathematics and computational science. It has a wide range of applications in medicine (CT-scans), industry (nondestructive testing) and science (3D imaging of nanomaterials). The researcher will develop a radically new method for 3D reconstruction of nanomaterial scans. The technique will be dedicated to the analysis of semiconductor samples in close collaboration with imec Belgium (https://www.imec-int.com/en/home) (prof. C. Fleischmann).

4. Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational genomics of Alzheimer’s disease

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Sleegers lab is committed to increasing insights into the complex genetics of Alzheimer’s disease and to investigating the translational potential of genetic discovery. We use advanced genomic technologies and genetic-epidemiological methods on human study populations to identify molecular mechanisms that can serve as future targets for early detection, prevention, and treatment. We participate in numerous international networks and consortia, to enhance gene identification, interdisciplinary gene characterization and early biomarker discovery. The VIB-UAntwerp Center is part of VIB, a Life Sciences institute with colleague-researchers in neuroscience, cancer, biotechnology, structural biology, and immunology amongst others and an extensive set of core facilities and opportunities for technology transfer.

5. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational neurobiology

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are the Computational Neurobiology lab and address fundamental questions in chromatin organization, epigenetics and brain biology. We develop machine learning approaches for large-scale data integration and reconstruct cis-regulatory networks to understand how a cell “chooses” its fate. In particular, we focus on the role of chromatin organization in neuronal cell fate specification and neurodegenerative disease, aiming to bring results of fundamental research to the clinic. The project aims to understand the mechanisms underlying neuro-immune crosstalk in AD development and progression. To this end the successful candidate will integrate large single-cell and bulk datasets across multiple data modalities into cis-regulatory networks, with a particular focus on chromatin organisation.
