1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Private Law with focus on Capital Market Law

Summary of PhD Program:

The position as a doctoral student in Private Law with focus on Capital Market Law means that you will be enrolled in the department’s doctoral programme and you will conduct research on Capital Market Law, Company Law and Bankruptcy and Insolvency law with focus on the regulation of the Swedish corporate bond market. The overall research question concerns the obligations of an issuer of corporate bonds to treat bond holders equally.

This is a full-time salaried position. The period of employment is initially one year of full-time studies, with the possibility of extension for another three years. The total length of the doctoral position is 48 months of full-time studies. Teaching may be included up to 20 per cent of full-time. In such cases, the employment will be extended correspondingly.

2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Natural Sciences, specializing in Physical Geography

Summary of PhD Program:

This PhD project aims to determine the utility of newly available hyperspectral satellite data to better understand and quantify biochemical and biophysical properties of tundra vegetation negatively impacted by changing climatic conditions. The study areas will be located in the Swedish tundra area. Research questions to be addressed are, for example, can biochemical and biophysical properties of tundra vegetation associated with a drier and warmer climate be detected using hyperspectral satellite data? Can hyperspectral satellite data be used to detect tundra plant diversity? Is there a benefit to synergistic use of hyperspectral data from, for example, the EnMAP satellite together with Sentinel-2 data?

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Medical Science – Data-driven life science (DDLS)

Summary of PhD Program:

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Ischemic stroke is heterogeneous both in terms of etiology and outcomes. Recurrent strokes are common and have higher fatality and disability rates compared to first strokes. Thus, improved secondary prevention is greatly needed. However, many of the molecular mechanisms underlying stroke recurrence and poor outcomes remain unknown. The overarching aim of this Data Driven Life Science PhD project is to use artificial intelligence (AI) approaches, specifically deep and machine learning (ML), to improve mechanistic understanding and enhance prediction of ischemic stroke outcomes. In the long run, this project will contribute to the development of precision medicine for stroke.

4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Medical Science – New MR-diagnostics för spinal cord involvement

Summary of PhD Program:

Spinal Cord Compression (SCC) due to cancer is a feared complication due to its potential for severe pain and permanent neurological deficits. To improve the diagnosis and treatment follow-up of children with SCC due to cancer using new diffusion weighted (DWI) and tensor imaging (DTI) methods. This may lead to better surgical resection and spare surrounding, healthy tissue during radiotherapy.

5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Marine Biogeochemistry focusing on how Blue Growth sectors will influence greenhouse gas fluxes

Summary of PhD Program:

The coastal ocean fuels the atmosphere with conspicuous amounts of methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O). This is because the distance from the seafloor to the surface is relatively short, and a fraction of the sedimentary CH4 and N2O does not get fully consumed in the water column. Under increasing pressures from human activities, it is not clear whether the distribution of CH4 and N2O in the upper coastal ocean will decrease or increase. For example, fish farming activities increase the transport of organic matter to the sediments, which may increase remineralization and CH4 and N2O fluxes. However, quantifications of how much GHGs reach the atmosphere due to mariculture are scarce at present.

6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Oceanography

Summary of PhD Program:

We seek a PhD candidate in Physical Oceanography to address knowledge gaps related to fine-scale ocean features/variability to understand mixed layer dynamics, vertical mixing and ventilation pathways, and water mass transformation in the upper ocean spanning the Southern Ocean and South Atlantic. These processes may also be related to heat and carbon fluxes across the air-sea interface, and beyond the base of the mixed layer. The candidate has the flexibility to investigate one to several of these processes. The candidate may use a combination of existing field data (primarily from autonomous platforms from multiple Southern Ocean deployments), new observations (planned expeditions in 2025 & 2026), as well as existing and new model simulations. Auxiliary reanalysis data and satellite-based products, including recently attained SWOT and PACE satellite data, are available to be used.
