1. Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Microbiology

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The position will be associated with the interdisciplinary project “Safe Water Reuse in a Changing Environment – Microbial Degradation of Contaminants in European Rivers”. Increasing water reuse is at the heart of Europe’s climate change adaptation strategy to counter water scarcity. Sustainable and safe reuse is hampered by a complex mixture of contaminants that reach recipient waters due to their incomplete elimination in sewage treatment plants. Very little is known about their fate in the environment and the self-purification capacities of natural systems. The project will combine molecular, chemical analytical and biogeochemical tools to generate and link knowledge on the interplay of microbial communities, carbon cycling and contaminant biodegradation in the aquatic environment – which is a crucial prerequisite for safe and sustainable reuse.

2. Postdoctoral Fellow in Extragalactic astronomy

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The position will be associated with the FEAST project, a JWST cycle 1 multiband survey (GO1783) aimed to study the embedded phases of clustered star formation in local galaxies. The position involves analyses of multiwavelength imaging and spectroscopic surveys that will include and complement the JWST observations. Expertise in analysing and modelling stellar, dust, and diverse gas emissions are prioritised in the selection of the candidates.

3. Postdoctoral Fellow focusing on Isotope Studies of Gases over South Asia

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The postdoctoral fellow will be join a strong and long-standing research program focusing on the interlinkages between severe air pollution and climate change in South Asia. To reduce uncertainties, there is need for field-observation-based constraints. This project is focused on leveraging multi-isotope techniques (e.g., δ13C, δ2H, δ18O, Δ14C) to advance constraints on the sources and atmospheric fate of key target gases such as methane, carbon monoxide and others in the highly perturbed atmosphere of South Asia. The combination of strategically located regional source and receptor sites with advanced isotope techniques will allow detailed characterization of sources, atmospheric reactions and overall constraints of their atmospheric lifecycle.
