Dr. David Wishart is a Distinguished University Professor within the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta. He is a highly respected scientist and operates one of the UofA’s most extensively equipped and advanced laboratories. His state-of-the-art research facilities are housed within both the Department of Biological Sciences and the Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences on the University of Alberta North campus. Dr. Wishart’s laboratories contain more than $10 million in cutting-edge analytical equipment including more than a half dozen high-end mass spectrometers and a fully equipped 700 MHz NMR spectrometer. 2. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The main role of this position will be to lead the production of Health Evidence Reviews (HERs) at the request of government. It requires proficiency in systematic review (including critical appraisal and meta-analytic techniques) and scoping review methods; basic quantitative techniques; and qualitative approaches to collecting and analysing data. Strong communication skills are needed, since the position must interact with many different stakeholder communities. In addition to this main role, there will be opportunities to engage in other research related to methods for assessing technologies, services and programs throughout their lifecycle and determining the broader social value of therapies for rare diseases as part of other grants held by members of the Unit. A full-time postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Elhenawy lab at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada. We are interested in exploring the pathogenesis of Escherichia coli strains associated with inflammatory bowel diseases. This includes studying the metabolism of these bacteria in the host environment. Moreover, we are investigating how these strains use type IV secretion system to form biofilms in the gut.
