The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with Dr. Omer Bobrowski on the project “Universality in Topological Data Analysis”, funded by the EPSRC. The main goal of this project is to study the probabilistic behaviour of random high-dimensional structures, focusing on phase transitions (sharp changes) related to their topology. The phenomena studied serve both as high-dimensional generalisations for well-known phenomena in random graphs and stochastic geometry, and as means to develop insight into statistical and computational challenges in topological analysis of data analysis (TDA).

Applications are invited for a post of Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) within the William Harvey Research Institute at Bart’s and The London Medical School, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The candidate will be highly motivated and self-driven with interest in cancer and/or developmental biology to study the molecular mechanisms underlying craniopharyngiomas, a paediatric Wnt-driven hypothalamic-pituitary tumour. This project lies at the boundary between tumour and developmental biology and aims to establish how oncogenic b-catenin bearing stem cells initiate tumour formation. The lab employs transgenic models, developmental biology and bioinformatics techniques to understand early stages of tumour formation.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The successful candidate will be an expert in cardiovascular physiology with hands on practical experience and strong data analysis skills. These will be used to investigate how signaling pathways are altered in and contribute to diseases of the circulatory system and heart. The successful candidate will have a Home Office personal licence, perhaps with Module 5 training, and extensive experience of transgenic mouse colony management. Broad experience of ex vivo (e.g., isolated heart perfusion, arterial myography) and in vivo (blood pressure radiotelemetry, echocardiography) cardiovascular physiology is essential. Equally important is hands-on experience of in vivo models of disease-related conditions such as hypertension, ischemia and reperfusion, infarction, sepsis, pulmonary hypertension, or heart failure. Additional, complementary skills in protein biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology would be welcomed.

Three Postdoctoral Research Assistants (PDRAs) are sought to join a large organ-chip research project within Queen Mary’s Centre for Predictive in vitro Models. This project, entitled, “Micro-manufacturing of tissue patterned organ-chips for accelerated deployment of new medicines”, is funded by EPSRC and supported by 6 industry partners. The project will develop spatial tissue patterning methodologies to control cellular and matrix microenvironments, stem cell differentiation cues and cell populations within next generation organ-chips. The PDRAs will develop the methodologies and translate these into industry by producing and validating a suite of exemplar organ-chip models of musculoskeletal tissues.

A Postdoctoral Research Assistant is being recruited to work with Dr Thomas Haworth on the impact of star forming environment on planet formation. The goal will be to build on the work of Qiao et al. Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Translational Lymphoma Research group of Professor Jessica Okosun. Our lab aims to understand the biological mechanisms that underpin disease initiation, progression and the different clinical behaviours of specific B- and T-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas by investigating intra-tumour heterogeneity, clonal evolution, biomarkers of response and resistance to therapies and developing methodologies to study lymphoma cell populations (Okosun et al, 2014; 2016, Nature Genetics; Araf et al, Leukemia 2018; Poynton et al, Blood Adv 2023; Coulter et al, J Mol Diagn 2024). The successful postdoc will investigate pre- and post-treatment tumour and immune heterogeneity and spatial dynamics using patient samples and employing a combination of multi-modal single cell techniques (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq).

A Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to work with Prof Stephen Rossiter. The position is funded on a BBSRC project entitled ‘The molecular basis of viral tolerance in bats’, which was awarded jointly with Prof Clare Bryant (University of Cambridge). Mounting evidence suggests that bats possess unique antiviral immunity yet only a tiny fraction of bat diversity has been examined to date. This project aims to discover new molecular adaptations linked to innate immunity across a wide sample of bat species. The post-holder will be required to combine newly-generated raw short-read sequence data with published high-quality assemblies, and to combine downstream methods in comparative genomics and phylogenetics to identify suitable candidate loci for functional testing by our collaborators. The post-holder will join a multidisciplinary, diverse, inclusive team with frequent meetings, interactions, and high-quality mentoring.
