2. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking a research fellow to play a leading role in the development of research on AI4ME, an exciting EPSRC & BBC-funded Prosperity Partnership that is addressing key challenges associated with the creation and delivery of personalised video content at scale. AI4ME brings together the BBC, Lancaster University, and the University of Surrey to design entirely new types of media experiences that can adapt to individual preferences, accessibility requirements, devices, and location.

AI4ME builds upon the rapid changes underway within the industry in how media experiences are produced and delivered, from television and films to video games. In television and broadcast media, the prevalence of Internet-based delivery supports the independent transport of different parts of a stream – including audio, video, and additional media experience components – to be composed together at the point of playback. This paradigm is enabling new forms of hyper-personalised and immersive storytelling and represents both opportunities and new challenges in the network delivery of these experiences.

4. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Department of Physics at Lancaster University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a collaborative EPSRC Programme Grant, ‘Quantum engineering of energy-efficient molecular materials’, (QMol). The QMol project will develop new strategies in molecular electronics for controlling molecular conformation, switching in organic/organometallic compounds, and new methods of molecular assembly, which can be deployed in scalable architectures to develop flexible energy harvesting materials, low-power neuromorphic computing, smart textiles and self-powered patches for healthcare. In order to do this, we will use room-temperature quantum interference effects which can be scaled up from single molecules to self-assembled monolayers.
