The application of multiport converters in grid applications can be integrating multiple energy resources (such as combination of PV, fuel cell, wind and storage systems) into the AC grid and/or supplying AC/DC loads. The need for such converters will be increased in the future hybrid AC/DC distribution network. Another important application could be power electronics based solid state transformer (SST) to be replaced with traditional transformers.
