4. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Onur Dagliyan’s Group

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Neuronal activity dependent molecular signaling processes are central for brain development and plasticity. These molecular events form the mechanistic basis of complex neural computation, learning and memory. Experience-driven activation of proteins often at the post-translational level mediate the rapid events including synaptic modifications, metabolic adaptations, and the transfer of the cytosolic protein signals into the nucleus to influence gene expression. The Dagliyan laboratory focuses on specific molecular events in neurons happening at these different time scales, starting from the immediate modifications at the synapse, such as actin-modifying protein signaling, to longer time scale molecular events such as protein modifications that mediate transcription initiation, elongation, and RNA splicing, which are key processes for the behaviorally induced plasticity of neuronal circuits.

8. Postdoctoral position in the area of single-cell genomics

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Ana Mendanha Falcão is a research group leader focusing on the role of the choroid plexus in diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Her team aims to investigate the choroid plexus as a source of biologically active molecules to the central nervous system, in order to influence disease dynamics. 9. Two Postdoctoral Researcher/ The Strategic Research Programme for Diabetes

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are interested in understanding how skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity is altered, both in response to pathology such as type diabetes, and as a response to physical exercise. This fellowship programme is focused on the role of miRNAs in this regard, in particular miRNAs in small extracellular vesicles (also called exosomes. We have previously identified several miRNA which are dysregulated in skeletal muscle in subjects with type 2 diabetes, and which contribute to changes in metabolism and insulin signalling, including let7 (Jiang et al., 2013), miR-29 (Massart et al., 2017) and mIR20b (Katayama et al., 2018). Since miRNAs are able to target multiple genes simultaneously, miRNAs provide a potential mechanism for efficiently modulating a whole pathway to change or alter the functional properties in specific target tissues.

30. Postdoc in epidemiology using ensemble methods and big data

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Common mental disorders (CMD) are the leading causes of long-term sickness absence. You will explore the relation between shift work (especially night work), long working hours and CMDs, as well as the interaction with psychosocial work environment. The goal is to show that routinely collected data can be used to a) identify risk factors for CMD, b) identify workplaces with high risk of sickness absence and c) give the employer recommendations on how to design healthy schedules. We have established a cohort of over 60,000 individuals employed by Stockholm Region between 2008 and 2021. Detailed information on working hours is retrieved from registry-based payroll data for each working day during the study. You will use longitudinal multivariate analysis to investigate working hours in relation to CMD and sickness absence, also including interaction between working hours and psychosocial work environment. In a non-randomized pseudo trial design, we will study the effect of changing work schedules on CMD. Finally, we will use ensemble methods to identify models that can predict workplace risk of long-term sickness absence among employees. The employment is temporary for two years.

33. ERC fundend postdoctoral scholarship: Exploring drivers of intratumor heterogeneity and phenotypic plasticity

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking a motivated, creative post-doctoral candidate interested in exploring drivers of intratumor heterogeneity and phenotypic plasticity in sympathoadrenal tumors, such as childhood neuroblastoma and pheochromocytoma. Intratumor heterogeneity and high plasticity account for therapy resistance. Causes of plasticity cell state transitions during tumor progression remain poorly understood. Currently, there is no effective treatment that addresses cancer heterogeneity. Systematic characterization of dynamic properties of intratumor heterogeneity and phenotypic plasticity can guide treatment strategies and improve clinical outcome for cancer patients. We aim at elucidating the origin and heterogeneity of sympathoadrenal malignancies, such as pheochromocytoma and childhood neuroblastoma by developing a new analytic and experimental approach based on single-cell transcriptomics with integrated mass spectrometry. We generated novel tumor mouse model systems and include human tumors to perform comparative differentiation trajectory analysis, to make predictions and, finally, to perform preliminary validations of envisioned tumor differentiation strategies.
