1. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate to work on TUDOR (Towards Ubiquitous 3D Open Resilient Network), an exciting new DSIT project that will address the key challenges involved in developing network components that enable seamless interoperability in heterogeneous networks of 5G and future technologies, including terrestrial, airborne (HAPS) and satellite networks. The TUDOR consortium brings together more than 20 partners, including world-leading researchers from UK universities, innovative equipment vendors, major network operators and network/software and system integrators from both space and terrestrial sectors. TUDOR aims to develop open network technologies that will underpin the next generation of mobile networks.

2. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking a research fellow to play a leading role in the development of research on AI4ME, an exciting EPSRC & BBC-funded Prosperity Partnership that is addressing key challenges associated with the creation and delivery of personalised video content at scale. AI4ME brings together the BBC, Lancaster University, and the University of Surrey to design entirely new types of media experiences that can adapt to individual preferences, accessibility requirements, devices, and location.
AI4ME builds upon the rapid changes underway within the industry in how media experiences are produced and delivered, from television and films to video games. In television and broadcast media, the prevalence of Internet-based delivery supports the independent transport of different parts of a stream – including audio, video, and additional media experience components – to be composed together at the point of playback. This paradigm is enabling new forms of hyper-personalised and immersive storytelling and represents both opportunities and new challenges in the network delivery of these experiences.

3. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Department of Psychology at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a full time Senior Research Associate, to join a research project on infant language development. The project you will be working on is titled “The Origins of Infant Word Learning”, and is funded by the Leverhulme Trust. This project will investigate how hearing words influences how 6- to 18-month-old infants see objects, how the ways that adults talk about objects lead to these effects, and how this process ultimately leads to word learning.
Application Deadline: 15 July 2024
4. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Department of Physics at Lancaster University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a collaborative EPSRC Programme Grant, ‘Quantum engineering of energy-efficient molecular materials’, (QMol). The QMol project will develop new strategies in molecular electronics for controlling molecular conformation, switching in organic/organometallic compounds, and new methods of molecular assembly, which can be deployed in scalable architectures to develop flexible energy harvesting materials, low-power neuromorphic computing, smart textiles and self-powered patches for healthcare. In order to do this, we will use room-temperature quantum interference effects which can be scaled up from single molecules to self-assembled monolayers.
Application Deadline: 31 May 2024
5. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking applications for a 1-year Research Associate post to work within the Department of Mathematics at Lancaster University, as a part of the EPSRC grant “Frontiers in Symplectic Topology”. This grant focuses on the interface between symplectic topology, algebraic geometry and low-dimensional topology. The Principal Investigators on the grant are Jonny Evans (Lancaster) and YankI Lekili (Imperial College London). This particular postdoc position will be based in Lancaster.

6. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a novel and high impact project: ‘Culex distribution, vector competence and threat of transmission of arboviruses to humans and animals in the UK’, an inter-disciplinary project funded by the UKRI DEFRA One Health Approach to Vector Borne Diseases. The projects aim provide preparedness for future disease outbreaks – in people and/or animals – of West Nile or Usutu, through the understanding of the risk of virus transmission and how this risk may vary across England and Wales. Understanding this risk will enable us to identify years or areas of higher or lower risk and may enable the targeting of control measures.
Application Deadline: 31 May 2024
7. Postdoctoral Job
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This is an exciting opportunity for an agricultural or environmental scientist to lead a project to enable Newage Agric Solutions Ltd to establish a water-saving irrigation technique as the default management within the Weta irrigation scheme, to deliver different rice products to Newage’s value chain. The post offers a 24-month fixed term contract to support an African Agriculture Knowledge Transfer Partnership (AAKTP) between Newage Agric Solutions Ltd, CSIR-Crops Research Institute (Ghana) and the Lancaster Environment Centre (UK), supported by Innovate UK.
You’ll lead the management and implementation of the project, which aims to provide a new technology package to support rice production, by creating and conveniently implementing bespoke water-saving irrigation, applying organic amendments to reverse soil degradation and identifying climate-resilient rice cultivars. The technology package will be suitable for farmers to implement within Ghanaian irrigation schemes to boost their production and profits.
