1. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We seek to recruit a Research fellow in Quantum Simulation of many-body dynamics with Rydberg interactions. The goal of the project is to theoretically explore the capabilities of a new quantum simulation platform based on trapped ions excited to Rydberg states. We are particularly interested in understanding topological and dynamical effects in the vicinity of artificial conical intersections, which are created by engineering the rovibrational-electronic coupling of ions embedded in an ion crystal.

7. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) with interests and experience in developing mathematical and computational tools for modelling physical processes in porous media, eco-geohydrology, and/or carbon storage; to work in an interdisciplinary team—at the interface between mathematics, engineering, and eco-geohydrology.

The PDRA will be based at Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, work in close collaboration with School of Mathematical Sciences, and be affiliated with Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Geoprocesses (EFMG) research group, and GeoEnergy Research Centre (GERC). The PDRA will develop numerical tools for modelling the complex interplay of mechanical, ecological, and hydrological processes in natural porous media, and to increase our understanding of the dynamics of Peatland, and carbon sequestration within it.

10. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A Research Associate/Fellow is required to undertake research as part of a three-year Leverhulme-funded grant investigating auxin response in duckweed awarded to the Bishopp, Farcot and Bhosale groups. Duckweeds represent an amazing family of aquatic monocotyledonous plants. All duckweed species have a highly simplified body plan lacking many features associated with angiosperms, such as branching of the shoot and root apex, and organs, such as root hairs. The most derived species lack roots completely. This progressive loss of anatomical complexity is accompanied by a significant reduction in the number of auxin signalling components, placing duckweeds intermediate between Arabidopsis and Marchantia in terms of signalling complexity. We therefore see that this project sits at nexus between plant evolutionary development (evo-devo) and systems biology.

11. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A key focus of this new role is to understand how root tips sense and respond to compacted soil environment. The high-level objective of the research is to discover key signals, sensing mechanisms and root cell biophysical responses in compacted soil. We seek highly motivated candidates with a PhD in plant biology/plant molecular biology/plant biotechnology or related biological science. The successful candidate will possess demonstrable laboratory skills including analyzing rice root responses in abiotic stresses and molecular biology, gene editing and rice root cell membrane lipid profiling. 12. Postdoctoral Job

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Fellow position to work on a BBSRC funded project which aims to discover how roots adapt to water stress. In this BBSRC project, we seek to identify novel targets, genes, and pathways involved in sensing water in the model plant Arabidopsis. Building on our previous work (Mehra et al., Science, 2022), we aim to understand how hormone-driven pathways help roots to adapt to transient water stress conditions. This position is especially suited for candidates with an interest in root development and molecular cell biology. All the technologies required for the project are currently performed in our laboratory.
