We use a combination of human experiments and computational modeling. Fellows will also be members of the new Center for Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence housed at the Baylor College of Medicine and supported in part by the NSF NeuroNex program. The Center brings together interdisciplinary researchers from across Houston, including members from Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University, University of Houston, and University of Texas Health Sciences. Researchers at the Center contribute diverse expertise in fields including neuroscience, machine learning, statistics, physics, computer science, electrical engineering, and applied mathematics.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Postdoctoral positions are available in James Martin’s lab in the Department of Integrative Physiology to study multiple facets of cardiac biology and regenerative medicine. The Martin lab focuses on understanding how developmental pathways are connected to adult tissue regeneration. We use a variety of biochemical, biophysical, imaging, genomic and computational approaches to investigate the genetic pathways that regulate cardiac organ development and homeostasis. Our lab performs computational and wet-lab work, though the ideal candidate should have experience in molecular biology, genomics, cell biology, and/or informatics. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Genetics, Developmental Biology, Cardiovascular Science, or related fields. Previous experience using the laboratory mouse and cell culture is highly preferred, but not required. The candidate will conduct research project(s), design and perform biological experiments with rigor, work collaboratively with investigators within and outside of the lab, be highly organized and communicative, and maintain a high work ethic.
