The Postdoc will be part of the project Grammar and agrammatism in Greenlandic (GreenGram), financed by Independent Research Fund Denmark. This project addresses a challenge raised by the first study of agrammatism in a polysynthetic language, Greenlandic. In this study, we found slow speech rates and short utterances, as expected of agrammatic speech, but almost none of the grammatical problems that gave agrammatism its name. The challenge raised by the study can be formulated in two questions: 1. Can the findings in the pilot study be replicated on a larger set of data collected from a group of well-diagnosed subjects? 2. We are a systems neuroscience laboratory focusing on understanding the mechanisms by which neural circuits and behaviors are affected by stress, to better understand the etiology of mental disorders (https://in.ku.dk/research/kermen-lab/). Our expertise includes behavioral assays, neuronal tracing, in vivo calcium imaging of large populations of neurons (2 photon & light sheet microscope), opto/chemogenetics. We use transparent, transgenic larval zebrafish as a vertebrate model amenable to whole brain imaging at cellular resolution in vivo. You will work directly with Associate Prof. Florence Kermen and in close collaboration with other team members. Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We seek applicants with a strong documented research profile studying climate protest movements and who have experiences in qualitative social science methods using visual analysis, as well as experiences with interviewing. Familiarity with focus groups or fieldwork, digital visual media analysis, discourse or narrative analysis, or computational text analysis are a plus. We seek candidates with good communication skills in spoken and written English, and an ability to produce state-of-the art social-science research on climate movements. To be considered for the position, applicants must have research qualifications at least corresponding to what can be achieved as part of a successfully completed PhD. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in sociology, political science, media and communication, visual art, art history, cultural studies, or related fields.
