Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Liquid Biopsies and Cancer Diagnostics lab at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, University of Cambridge, develops and pioneers new approaches for non-invasive molecular diagnostics for cancer, primarily based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) of circulating cell-free tumour DNA (ctDNA). Applicants are invited for a two year Research Associate position with Golnar Kolahgar and Nick Brown to solve a long-standing problem in cell adhesion. In most epithelia, cadherins mediate the cell-cell adhesion between lateral surfaces, whereas the integrins mediate cell-extracellular matrix adhesion on the basal surface. However, there are special cases where integrins contribute to cell-cell adhesion, which have been identified in diverse systems, both in human cells and Drosophila. This collaborative project with the Randall Centre in King’s College London aims to elucidate how integrins work with cadherins to mediate cell-cell adhesion via these novel ‘integrated’ cell adhesions. Within RadNet, a network-wide collaborative effort has been established to bridge the gap between preclinical radiotherapy research and cutting-edge clinical practice. This role will be the technical lead on the “MIGRATES” project. MIGRATES will develop and deploy a user-friendly framework for multi-modal image co-registration for radiotherapy planning. It is based on a system-agnostic cradle for accurate physical co-registration of preclinical imaging data. The role-holder will adapt an existing cradle hardware and image acquisition / registration software to improve maintenance and monitoring of physiological status of experimental animals during in vivo imaging under anaesthesia and provide artifact-free MRI data.

The Marciniak group based in the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR), is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to drive innovation in the diagnosis and treatment of pleural mesothelioma. In collaboration with the Garnett Group in the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the Rintoul Group in the CRUK Cambridge Cancer Centre, you will use multi-omics analysis including genomics, transcriptomics and genome-wide CRISPR screening and high-throughput drug screening to identify novel vulnerabilities in mesothelioma.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The role holder will be responsible for the technical aspects of the AHRC/NEH funded project “Digital approaches to the capture and analysis of watermarks using the manuscripts of Isaac Newton as a test case”. The aim of the project is to investigate the use of images of watermarks in the papers of Isaac Newton to infer information about the organisation and chronology of the archive. The post will be based in Cambridge Digital Humanities and affiliated with the Mathematics for Cultural Heritage Applications group in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, and the project has links to Indiana University, the École Nationale des Chartes and the École des Ponts in Paris.
