The post-doctoral RA will work with Prof Rubia and her team on an exciting multi-centre double-blind, sham-controlled randomised controlled trial (RCT) funded by the NIHR to test a novel non-pharmacological brain stimulation therapy. The Monarch eTNS System stimulates the external trigeminal nerve (eTNS) which has shown to improve ADHD symptoms in a proof-of-concept trial in the USA and is approved by the FDA for use in children with ADHD. This interdisciplinary project aims to investigate the regulation of cell migration and extracellular matrix formation during embryogenesis by exploiting the embryonic dispersal of Drosophila macrophages. The post holder will use a combination of advanced imaging techniques and Drosophila genetics to test the molecular signals underlying these processes along with their functions during embryonic development. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Life Sciences and have strong experience with Drosophila genetics and the cell biology of the cytoskeleton.
