The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in an international collaborative effort to observationally constrain regional and global climate forcings, primarily those induced by aerosol-radiation and aerosol-cloud interactions, and the associated climate response. A 3-4 year Postdoctoral fellowship in psychology is available at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo. The goal of phase two is to conduct a large-scale quantitative study to evaluate a complex theoretical model linking shyness among early adolescents to aspects of school adjustment. This model will denote a series of potential constructs and mechanisms that link shyness with school adjustment, including both mediated and moderated pathways. Students will complete a series of self-report measures, all chosen for their strong psychometric properties, evidence of reliability and validity, and appropriateness for use at this age period. Measures of constructs that emerge from phase one will also be included. Validation of the model will contribute significantly to the literature on shyness during adolescence and the impact of shyness on school adjustment and attainment. It will demonstrate the role of mediating and moderating factors in school adjustment to teachers and other education professionals, showing that these factors do impact this age-group.

In this project, we aim to unravel the role of membrane contact sites between the endoplasmic reticulum and other organelles in transducing external cues to the nucleus, leading to altered gene expression, and how this is coupled with the development of the cancer cell invasive ability during cancer progression. To achieve this, the project will make use of RNAi screens, biochemical and molecular biological methods, and advanced imaging techniques such as super-resolution and live imaging. See Guadagno et al., J Cell Biol 2020. Our group has access to the National imaging platform NorMIC Oslo, with a wide range of state-of-the-art imaging equipment. The Department of Biosciences harbors also an EM-lab, the Norwegian Sequencing Centre (NSC) and Proteomics services. The main purpose of a postdoctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue a scientific top position within or beyond academia. Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The researcher will be a main contributor to an EU-funded project on locally advanced laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell cancer. Treatment for such cancers may be treatment with certain forms of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy for larynx preservation as an alternative to total laryngectomy. As not all patients benefit from this strategy, there is a strong need to define biomarkers for patient selection and treatment optimization. The project aims to develop a multimodal signature predictive of response to therapy and to define alternative pathways to be tackled in patients not responding to the current treatment. The project will collect and integrate a large series of clinically annotated data from cancer patients after treatment, to assess a multi-omic signature of response to treatment and to define alternative pathways. Transcriptomic analysis, molecular data on cell lines and radiomic evaluation will be main components of the signature development. Model predictions of response for individual/groups of patients allowing in-silico simulations of treatment response by means of patient-based inference of tumor biology, in particular for response to therapy, by exploiting combined genomics and radiomics; and a new multifactorial AI algorithms informing personalized treatment based on patient’s profiles will be employed. Validation will take the form of a phase II pilot trial using the developed models and signatures.

The position is devoted to carrying out research in “EMPOWER: Sustainable Batteries in Mobility – (Em)powering a Net-zero Energy Transition”. This initiative is funded by UiO:Energy Convergence Environments and will run in the period 2022-2027. EMPOWER takes an interdisciplinary research and education perspective to investigate the role of electric vehicle batteries in enabling a sustainable net-zero energy transition in Norway. We are currently recruiting three doctoral and three postdoctoral research fellows. The responsibility of this Postdoc fellow in Batteries and Sustainable Futures will be to develop a sustainability framework for EMPOWER, with a focus on the EV battery life cycle and future battery use.
