3. Post Doc Fellow – Epigenetics

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Post Doctoral Fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Kalish, at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania (Penn). Our lab is part of the rich scientific environment on the CHOP/Penn campus that includes multiple areas of epigenetics, cancer, genetics, and molecular biology. The lab is also part of the Penn Epigenetics program. A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Paralkar Lab in the Division of Hematology-Oncology and the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute at the University of Pennsylvania for an NIH-funded project to study transcription and chromatin regulation in hematopoiesis and leukemia. Transcription factors and chromatin-binding proteins regulate the transcription of coding and noncoding RNAs to orchestrate cellular transcriptomes and proteomes. The rate of transcription of ribosomal RNAs, the most abundant RNA in the cell, shows substantial variation across normal and malignant cell types in many organ systems, including in hematopoiesis, but little is known about its regulation in cell-type-specific contexts. The Paralkar Lab has identified that numerous hematopoietic and leukemic transcription factors bind ribosomal DNA (rDNA), and their regulation of rRNA transcription has implications for both normal and leukemic hematopoiesis.
