A post-doctoral position at The Center for Autism Research This adolescent-focused position will join a large-scale, multi-site study using computer vision and computational linguistics to develop novel measures of social communication and affect in ASD, anxiety, and depression. The position has a focus on clinical training in diagnostic, cognitive, and language assessment across a range of psychiatric presentations in adolescence, with the opportunity for research training in computational behavior analysis methods. While this position is research assessment-focused, there may also be minor rotations conducting assessments in other clinical settings such as the Regional Autism Center, or with treatment/intervention of children with ASD. Minor rotations will depend on the fellow’s training goals and rotation availability. In addition the fellow will participate in broader training and scholarly activities within CHOP and CAR (e.g., lab meetings, journal clubs, clinical group supervision, professional development seminars). Training Program Summary: Neuroimaging has become a leading strategy used for translational research in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), as well as a prominent biomarker strategy for defining preclinical stages of ADRD, for clinical differential diagnosis of ADRD, and for evaluating for target engagement and therapeutic responses in clinical trials. We are investigating the function of p53 as both a sentinel and a regulator for metabolic activities. Furthermore, we are identifying and characterizing metabolic alterations that drive tumor initiation and progression. (2) Protein quality control, aging, and neurodegeneration. Our lab recently identified two protein quality control (PQC) systems, which consist of tripartite motif (TRIM) proteins and poly-Asp/Glu (polyD/E) proteins, respectively. Unlike canonical PQC systems, these new systems are independent of ATP. They are multifunctional and highly effective in suppressing protein misfolding and aggregation. We are investigating their mechanisms of action; their roles in aging and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and polyglutamine diseases; and their utility in treating these diseases.

The Bhoj Laboratory, a member of Penn’s Center of Cellular Immunotherapies (CCI), is looking for postdoctoral candidates interested in translational research focused on development of novel T cell immunotherapies. The over goal of the lab is to develop of CAR T cells and other platforms of engineered T cell-based immunotherapies for the treatment of diseases or conditions that are driven by pathogenic immune responses. The overarching premise is centered on the notion that T cell therapies offer several advantages in regard to target cell elimination and immunomodulation where traditional pharmacologic therapies fall short. Existing projects are focused on targeting B cells, plasma cells and T cells that drive autoimmune responses as well as allo-immune responses (e.g. anti-drug antibodies and organ/tissue allograft rejection.
