In this project the candidate would be part of a multidisciplinary team of data and information scientists and policy makers from around the US. Specifically, this project investigates the factors that impeded rapid response data science collaboration between governmental entities and university-based researchers in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Learning Health Sciences (DLHS) is a first-in-the-nation basic science department focused on the sciences related to learning across multiple levels of scale (i.e. individual, group, organization, region, nation). DLHS works to improve health in systemic ways by advancing the sciences that make learning effective, routine, and efficient. Our bold research programs generate new knowledge that enhance learning at all levels; our innovative educational programs train new researchers and practitioners in the sciences of learning; our collaborative service programs enhance health professions curricula and guide health systems as they evolve to become learning health systems. More information about DLHS is available at: https://medicine.umich.edu/dlhs DLHS is seeking a highly motivated, talented researcher with experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Learning Analytics and eXtended Reality to join a dynamic research team with expertise in learning sciences, medical education, and computer science. This NSF-funded postdoctoral position involves developing and evaluate a novel debriefing system that aims to capture and visualize multimodal data streams from the fully immersive multi-user VR simulation environment to evaluate learners’ cognitive (e.g., clinical decision-making) and behavioral (e.g., situational awareness, communication) processes.

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in a highly dynamic interdisciplinary laboratory studying the role of the extracellular matrix niche in bone development and regeneration. The proposed studies supported by the NIH and Department of Defense focus on the role of collagen receptors (discoidin domain receptors and integrins) in bone and cartilage development and regeneration (See Mohamed et al. 2022 Bone Res. DOI: 10.1038/s41413-021-00182-w). Studies involve analysis of ECM-activated signal transduction pathways in bone as well as in vivo assessment of cell lineage and osteogenic activity using transgenic models. The successful candidate must be highly motivated with strong research capabilities and ability to design and carry out experiments with a high level of independence. This individual will also assist the PI in training new lab members and writing research manuscripts and documents.

The research lab of Dr. Michael Holinstat in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI is in search of a postdoctoral Research Fellow. As the selected candidate, you will investigate platelet biochemical and physiological steps in the regulation of blood coagulation in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo in human and animal models of blood clotting. You will work in a platelet research group focused on all aspects of signaling involved in platelet activation and clotting located in an open-lab environment with access to all of the state-of-the-art equipment in order to gain a greater understanding of hemostasis and thrombosis in the in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo setting in both human and small animal models. The lab maintains state-of-the-art hemostasis and thrombosis facilities including full protein chemistry capabilities, lumi-aggregometers, flow cytometer, hemavet, a microscopy facility containing 2 zeiss microscopes with the capacity for in vivo intravital confocal microscopy and single-cell high resolution microscopy, PCR machines, 2 multi-mode plate readers, thromboelestography, and a phlebotomy suite with full-time phlebotomist.
