Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center. The on-going projects in the lab use murine models of cardiac arrest and ischemic stroke. We apply a wide spectrum of approaches, including molecular and immunologic methods, functional imaging, genetically modified mouse models, and behavioral tests. The main research project for this position is to understand the role of the unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling pathway in ischemic stroke. Self-motivated individuals – who recently obtained a PhD or MD degree – are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidates should be interested in using rodent disease models to study mechanisms and develop potential therapeutics and have a background in molecular biology and neuroscience. The Luftig laboratory at Duke University School of Medicine seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in virology, molecular cell biology, and/or biochemistry to join our research group studying oncogenic viruses. https://sites.duke.edu/luftiglab/research/ Our lab focuses on how the human herpesvirus, EBV, co-opts cellular signaling pathways and transcriptional networks to drive activation and uncontrolled proliferation of human B cells. Our work models the earliest steps in viral oncogenesis and aims to understand how the establishment of EBV latency mimics normal B-cell activation and maturation. We use many different complementary approaches to study the interaction between EBV and the host.
